It’s been widely known for many years now that dogs can provide tremendous joy, companionship and even healing power to the elderly.
Just recently, senior residents in Philadelphia were privy to some of those benefits themselves at the first ever Dog Days of Summer Pup Parade – an event that is set to take place now every year. More than 12 dogs showed up to interact with the elderly and the event was said to have been “a huge success.” Some of the seniors spoke about when they had dogs and how it was and others got to cuddle with (some of) the smaller canines.
All in all it was a very positive activity.
