Seniors need to keep their mind and body active to stay happy and healthy. Here are some easy-to-do activities which are sure to bring a smile to any senior you might know, perhaps even yourself!

We hear so much about getting exercise, and the good news is you don’t need to move from your chair to get some. Exercise can be accomplished anywhere, even from a sitting position. Ask your doctor to recommend some great chair exercises, or get a DVD about it. You can even download chair exercises from the internet. So start moving!

For a change of scenery go for a walk. Breathe in some fresh- air and see the sights around your neighborhood. Even just once a day, and even in a wheelchair, getting out and about can make a big difference in your mood, circulation, and even outlook on life.

Go shopping, go out to eat, go see a play, or just put a little excitement in your life. Just because you are older does not mean you can’t enjoy life.

Work on your hand strength and coordination with activities like therapy dough, working in clay, painting, sewing, or whatever you enjoy which forces you to use your hands in creative, challenging ways.

Investigate the latest sounds coming from the world of music. If you are more conservative, then listen to all your old favorites on a regular basis. Music brings joy to life at any age.

Play games, all kinds! Get together with friends and relatives to play your favorite card games, board games, puzzle games. Many games can also be played on-line, like chess, checkers, and just about any other board game you can think of.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of ideas on how to stay happily engaged during the golden years. Try a few, you might be pleasantly surprised how good it makes you feel.
