Dry Harbor is proud to announce that we are upgrading our already excellent Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program that includes a team of specialists employed on a full-time basis. This team includes Board-certified doctors in Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Infectious Disease, as well as Nurse Practitioners (NP’s) and Physician Assistants (PA’s). All of Dry Harbor’s specialists are under the supervision of Medical Director, Vincent Rappa, MD. Dr. Rappa has worked closely with Dry Harbor’s Chief Cardiologist to enhance the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program with this new reform.
As part of the upgrade, Dry Harbor has added staff including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. The new department will serve patients with extended hours, helping them reap the benefits of extra medical care. The goal of the implementation of this program, and of all of Dry Harbor’s programs, is to improve patient care, allow for after-hour physician visits and prevent re-hospitalizations.
Prior to the upgrade, the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program at Dry Harbor Rehabilitation Center already decreased the hospital re-admission rate among program participants while also providing the utmost in quality and professional care. A complete review of medications and any possible negative drug interactions is conducted upon admission. The trained staff at Dry Harbor inserts MID lines, central lines, or peripheral lines, if necessary, to ensure that all patients receive appropriate care as early as possible. Dry Harbor has a full program of IV therapies, including, but not limited to, IV diuretics, IV steroids, and IV antibiotics. Each patient’s goals are monitored via documentation and communication between each department and overseen by our revamped Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program. This team approach renders better outcomes for our patients and their loved ones.
The seven-day rehabilitation program offered at Dry Harbor Rehab includes restorative physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy which is overseen by the on-staff physiatrist. In addition to this restorative program, Dry Harbor’s cardiac and pulmonary patients receive cardio-pulmonary exercise testing, vestibular exercises, and 02 saturation monitoring.
In addition to the first-rate medical services mentioned above, Dry Harbor also provides a variety of amenities free of charge. These amenities include a free 32” Smart TV with internet access, free phone service, a free bouquet of flowers upon admission, a complimentary set of clothes for both short-term and long-term residents, and free transportation for family visits.
